Your hatchling has grown now and the true majestic beauty of it has been revealed. From head to tailtip, sparkling gems of pure fire essence line its spine, and glimmer along with the beautiful feathers. It seems to refill these gems every so often by bathing in fire made by other sources, and prefers to not use its own power. It seems that when it does opt to use its own flame, the colors fade. You have heard stories of these wyverns becoming colorless in environments lacking fire, but you are uncertain if this is factual.

Phoenix wyverns are so called, not because of any supreme prowess over fire, but for the amazing feathers that adorn their wings, much like the old birds of lore. These wyverns, though, still bear some skill in the magic of fire, and are able to conjure weak fire storms if needed. As such, in the wild, it is best to keep a large distance away from any nest that may seem unguarded, as the parents all almost always watching with a keen eye. Exclusively carnivorous, these draco travel great distances in search of prey, as the volcanic slopes are near lifeless. It is not uncommon to see one fly overhead while climbing the western ranges.

Wyverns are large, powerful draco that only have hind legs and a pair of large and strong wings. They are commonly found in the volcanic and arid regions of the veil, and are feared and revered by the local tribes surrounding their domains. They only eat meat, but will gladly feast on carrion and rotting flesh, unlike their closer cousins the wyrms. It used to be thought that wyverns possessed a large, stinging tail that could poison their prey, and some species still retain this power, but it is more thought that this is a sure sign of the close relation of wyverns and wyrms. Wyverns also commonly possess strong, plated scales that protect their underbelly and make them nearly invulnerable to any sort of weapon.
